Just friends

So since my wine, dine, and porn post Marine has called me at least 4 different nights asking... no, begging me to go visit him. One thing I need to fix about myself is that I'm too nice and it's very hard for me to say no to people. So, I made excuses every time like, I'm sick, or it's too late, too late, too cold, blah blah blah. I should just give him my fear of going out by myself at night, which is totally true. Then it wouldn't be just an excuse. Anyway, so tonight he calls... twice, and is telling me how he had such a bad day, and he's just totally down, and would really like me to go hang out with him. He's a persistent fucker! Let me tell you. I tried letting him down easy, but there was no way around it. So finally, after over an hour of him begging and offering me everything under the sun, I compromised and told him I would go in the morning. At first he wasn't hearing it, but then he realized I wasn't going to budge so he agreed. He wanted to drink tonight, so he said instead we have to drink in the morning. Then he goes "Oh! And we can have the newlyweds (our mutual friends) over for dinner tomorrow night and we'll cook for them!" Ummmmm... hold on. When did hanging out because you had a bad day turn into a fucking couples dinner party? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the newlyweds, but I told him I'd go over in the morning and he's making a dinner date for us. Hmmm. Odd. So... he made me promise not to eat in the morning because he's cooking breakfast. Then he said we'll just spend the day at his house listening to music and stuff. Then the dinner date. Now, does any of this sound weird to any of you??? We're together and it's going absolutely great, he comes to visit me, freaks out after a night of drinking and leaves in the middle of the night. We break up (I'm still not entirely sure why), and don't talk for months until the newlyweds' wedding, don't talk again for months, now he's calling me every day to go see him. What the FUCK??? Whatever. We're just friends. We're not going to hook up. So I really can't get hurt this time if I go with no expectations of anything other than hanging out and having fun. Which I know we will, have fun I mean. He's a ton of fun to be around, totally funny. So... we'll see how it goes. He said he grew facial hair, which I think will look horrible on him, so I'm not worried about being too attracted to him. So, he's got that going for him, which is nice.
